The source of this English translation is Jia Shi(Poems by a Thousand Poets.)The word “thousand” in the title is used in its literary sense-may. In fact, there are only 226 poems in the book by 126 renowed poets, mostly in the Tang and Song dynasties.
The book is arranged by the verse form: seven-character jueju(four-line verse);seven- character lushi(eight-line verse);five-character jueju(four-line verse);and five –character lushi(eight-line verse).
