The Mastersaid, Not equal to him - you and I are not equal to him！

The Master said, Rottenwood cannot be carved, nor a wall of dried dung be trowelled.4What use is there in my scolding him any more？ The Master said, There was a time when I merely listenedattentively to what people said, and took for granted that theywould carry out their words. Now I am obliged not only to giveear to what they say, but also to keep an eye on what they do. Itwas my dealings with Tsai Yu that brought about the change.
10 The Master said, I have never yet seen a man who was trulysteadfast Someone answered saying, 'Shen Ch'eng'. The Mastersaid, Ch'eng！ He is at the mercy of his desires. How can he becalled steadfast？
11 Tzu-kung said, What I do not want others to do to me, I haveno desire to do to others. The Master said, Oh Ssu！ You have notquite got to that point yet.
